Lewis P. Byers, 95, of Millerstown passed away February 24. He was the son of Rowland E. and Florence
F. (Sweger) Byers. He was born in Millerstown, Perry County on May 14, 1930. He is survived by 3
daughters, Cindy Soule, Deb Hines (Bob), and Gayle Byers along with 3 grandchildren and 5 great-
grandchildren. Lewie is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Constance L. Byers and daughter, Rose. He
is survived by one brother, Sam (Carol) Byers. Lew was a life long farmer. Being raised on a dairy farm
with 9 brothers and 2 sisters, he decided to take up dairy farming himself. He was a dairy farmer until
he ‘retired’ when he switched to raising beef cattle. He never really retired because farming was his
vocation, hobby, recreation, and relaxation. The other love of his life was his family; he was a great
father and mentor. He and Connie raised 4 girls and the family worked the farm together. It was a
wonderful way to spend time with each other and feel fulfilled and content at the end of the day.
Visitation will held on February 28 at 10 AM with service to follow at 11 AM at the Donnally Mills
United Methodist Church.
