Ronald Scheib Obituary

Ronald Scheib
November 14, 1952 – February 15, 2026

With deep sorrow, the family of Ronald Scheib announces his passing on February 15, 2026.

Born November 14, 1952, in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Ron was the son of Michael and Helen (Kratzer). He entered the world as the firstborn—followed just minutes later by his twin brother, Donald. A few years later, their sister Christy completed the family.

Raised in Gratz, Pennsylvania, Ron was active in the Upper Dauphin School District, participating in wrestling and baseball, and graduating in the class of 1970. Even as a young man, Ron was always a hard worker, including jobs of milk delivery man, egg farmer, fast food worker, ice cream server, retail salesman, hardware store worker, lumber yard manager, bookkeeper, and finally settling in on his career as an IT specialist at the NAVSEA Logistics Center in Mechanicsburg. While working at all of these jobs, Ron simultaneously pursued a business degree at Penn State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1974.

While working as a salesman at Mammoth Mart, Ron met a young coworker, Kathy Miller, who quickly captured his attention. On August 23, 1972, he invited her out to a fancy dinner at Arby’s. That first date marked the beginning of a love story that led to their marriage on May 10, 1975. In 2025, Ron and Kathy celebrated 50 years of devoted marriage. Through seasons of joy and challenge, they remained each other’s steadfast support—a living example of enduring love and commitment. Their devotion formed the bedrock of their family, a legacy their children and grandchildren will carry forward.

Of all his roles in life, Ron considered being a father his greatest achievement. He was the proud and devoted father of four sons: Donald, Steven, Kevin, and Keith. Ron demonstrated unending support, demonstrating how to grow from boys to men, while sharing his love of hunting, baseball card collecting, card games, and baseball. Whether Ron was coaching the little league teams or in the stands, he always rearranged his schedule to ensure he attended almost every game.

Ron’s athletic talents continued well beyond high school. He was a left-handed pitcher for the Forrer Dodge fast-pitch softball team, where he not only enjoyed the competition but also treasured the camaraderie of his teammates. It was through softball that he met his lifelong best friend, Jerry—a friendship that extended far beyond the ball field. Ron was also an accomplished bowler, achieving the rare milestone of a perfect 300 game. He competed for many years in the State Open Championship Tournament, including seasons spent bowling alongside his son Kevin and nephew Steve Roe. Ron also loved spending time hunting in Potter County and was a member of the Big Spring Hunting Camp.

If there was anything that rivaled Ron’s love for his four sons, it was his love for his grandchildren. He was blessed with 20 grandchildren, each of whom delighted in his quick wit, steady presence, and unwavering encouragement. Being “Papa” brought him immeasurable joy.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Helen; stepfather Elwood Michael; his twin brother, Donald; and his daughter-in-law, Rachel (Swartz).

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathy; his sons, Donald , Steven, and his wife Kelly,  Kevin and his wife  Kristen; and Keith and his wife Kayla; his 20 cherished grandchildren; and his sister, Christy, and husband, Dennis and sister-in-law Karen and husband Lamar.

Ron will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his family, his tireless work ethic, his love of sports and friendship, and the quiet strength that defined his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply.
